BANK FIVE NINE PROVIDES CHARITABLE CONTRIBUTION TO VILLAGE OF SUMMIT FOR CONSTRUCTION OF PUBLIC  FITNESS COURT

The Village of Summit received a $10,000 charitable donation from Bank Five Nine on December 13, 2023 for the construction of a future fitness court in the Village in partnership with the National Fitness Campaign.  Bank Five Nine and their employees donate over 6,000 hours and more than $200,000 each year to local nonprofit organizations.  In December of this year, they selected the Village’s proposed fitness court project as a worthy cause for donation.  The Village is deeply appreciative of this generous gift.

The National Fitness Campaign (NFC) is a wellness consulting firm whose goal is to build healthy communities across the country.  They partner with municipalities, schools, and other sponsors to fund, build, and activate outdoor fitness courts.  Their mission is to build healthy communities by bringing a fitness court within a 10-minute bike ride of every American.  The Village owns and maintains two large public parks that offer the desired space and connectivity to bike trail systems to accommodate such facilities, and the NFC has demonstrated interest in one or both of these sites.  The Village Board believes that pursuit of the NFC grant opportunity for a fitness court is in the community’s interest.  The Board also recognizes that funding, particularly for park and recreation facilities and services, is increasingly limited.  As such, the Village has been seeking potential private partners to assist financially with implementation of this project.  The total project cost is estimated at approximately $160,000, and NFC grants in the amount of $30,000 to $50,000 are available to help offset costs.  The Village’s goal is to raise a total of $100,000 to $130,000 in donated funds to cover the balance of the project in excess of an awarded NFC grant.

The Village looks forward to additional partnerships with local organizations and businesses, and any questions regarding the fitness court project or charitable donations for this project may be forwarded to Kamron Nash, P.E., Public Works Director at pwdirector@summitvillage.org or (262) 567-2757.
